Ms. Burlingham   Welcome to English 9 and 10!
This is my second year teaching at Forest Park High School. I began my teaching career on the middle school level and I am enjoying my transition to the high school classroom! English 10 offers students the opportunity to learn some valuable lessons through the reading of wonderful literature -- Lord of the Flies by William Golding and Night by Elie Wiesel. In addition to the reading, students begin to refine their writing skills and prepare for the 11th grade research paper. I hope for much success during the 2010-2011 school year! English 9 students have the opportunity to read the classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, in addition to Romeo and Juliet, and other shorter selections throughout the year. We will also focus on writing skills necessary for formal and academic writings, especially the research paper. I look forward to an exciting year!
